Hello to our vibrant and amazing friends, family, community -
After almost three years, Living Raw Magazine is coming to a close.
You may remember our newsletter a few months back, where we described how Living Raw started. I had a vision for a handy little booklet that helped people find raw food products in Perth. With my husband Chris’ help, we turned our spare room into a mini publishing house - printing, stapling, envelope stuffing and posting into the night before early starts in our day job the next morning.
Living Raw grew exponentially, as interest in raw, organic, natural and plant-based lifestyles grew around the world, especially in Australia.
We have been working solidly behind the scenes to bring Living Raw to you. As our financial situation became tighter, it has been increasingly difficult to operate and looking deep in my heart, I realised the passion I had at the start was clouded by this. I made the decision that now is the time to move on.
I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has contributed to Living Raw, in words, advertising, sharing, reading and enjoying.
And of course to our readers, we know you love and cherish your magazines. Special thanks to all of our subscribers, you are the life of a magazine - it will take a while, but we do intend to refund outstanding subscriptions.
I’m a strong believer in the idea that when one door closes, another door opens and there has never been a better time to walk through the doors of opportunity.
The last three years has seen raw food go from a fringe culture to being embraced mainstream, and the best is yet to come. There are amazing people who have worked hard for years teaching the raw food lifestyle, and in doing so have created the foundation for a flourishing industry to support the next generation of raw-preneurs.
There are many thanks to share, and in particular I express gratitude for their support since our inception - Jill & John Evans, who have led the way in bringing raw foods to the shelves of many mainstream health and organic stores, Leisa Wheeler whose nurturing retreats opened me up to new possibilities, Anand & Runi and Jennie Murphy who all encouraged me to take my little Perth raw food ‘zine national, and to John McCabe who has been an amazing support and whose books are a constant source of inspiration. There are so many more people to thank, you know who you are and know our gratitude.
Thanks go out to our team, with Jess waving magic with words and recipes, Danielle, Teniele and Cat who have recently joined us and have been relentless in pursuing our vision, and to Katie who has been unwavering in her support, who was the first person outside of my family who learned of the vision and committed to helping in every way from the very start.
Most of all, thanks to my family and especially my husband Chris who has supported the Living Raw vision in every way possible - I love you xx.
We want everyone around the world to continue enjoying Living Raw. We still have back issues available and will be releasing the e-book editions shortly for you to enjoy on-the-go. Just visit www.livingraw.com.au to snag the one of the last print copies and download the digital issues.
This is not the end - it is a new beginning! I look forward to continuing our conversations online and in social media.
Warmest regards,
Kate Quinn
